Can someone help me with my 01 ford Windstar?

I was driving and all of a sudden my Windstar died. No sputtering, no chugging, and was running fine before this. I have spark. But no fuel pressure. I cant hear the fuel pump turn on when I turn the switch on. I was wondering if there could be another problem other than the fuel pump? I checked the reset button in the back by the jack and it was not tripped. Could this be the relay? do fuel pumps just go bad all of a sudden? I was pretty low on gas. maybe 3 or 4 gallons in the tank. I put about 5 gallons into the tank still nothing. any ideas i should peruse before buying a $250 fuel pump and dropping the tank? Thanks.
