How do you get a job being a particular nurse?

I want to be either a neonatal nurse/labour and delivery nurse OR an ER nurse. Now once i enter the nursing program and received a degree. Do i have to take a special class that specializes in that type of nursing? Or do I apply for whatever type of nursing I want to peruse in and get trained? Thanks!
